NCSBY Mission
The overall goal of the National Center on Sexual Behavior of Youth is to provide information and support through national training and technical assistance to improve the accuracy, accessibility, and strategic use of information about the nature, incidence, prevalence, treatment, re-entry, and management of children with sexual behavior problems and adolescent sex offenders.
The mission of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, as a comprehensive academic health center, is to educate students at the professional, graduate, and undergraduate levels to become highly qualified health service practitioners, educators and research and creative activites for the advancement of knowledge through teaching and development of skills; and to provide continuing education, public service, and clinical care of exemplary quality.

The NCSBY is a part of the Center on Child Abuse and Neglect (CCAN) at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC). CCAN was established in the Department of Pediatrics at the OUHSC in 1992. The purpose of CCAN is to organize the Health Science Center's efforts in the treatment and prevention of child abuse and neglect. CCAN is a university-based center that directs research, professional and public education, clinical services, and administrative programs in the field of child maltreatment.

Since 1992, CCAN has provided high-quality, reliable, and consistent services to Oklahoma families and professionals in the area of child maltreatment. CCAN recognizes the importance of coordinating the efforts of multiple programs to involve schools, community centers, courts, and all service providers. CCAN edits the journal, Child Maltreatment, provides administrative services to APSAC, which includes organizing professional education and fulfilling publication orders, and offers the Interdisciplinary Training Program in Child Abuse and Neglect, a graduate course for students from social work, psychology, law, medicine, dentistry, and related disciplines. The Center is directed by Dr. Barbara L. Bonner.
